James I. Sears, CEO of Sears Manufacturing Company, has been named a 2025 laureate of the Quad Cities Area Business Hall of Fame––a prestigious honor granted by Junior Achievement of the Heartland to recognize individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, integrity, and positive community impact.
The induction ceremony took place on June 12, 2025, at the Quad Cities Waterfront Convention Center in Bettendorf, Iowa. The evening, welcomed four honorees: James Sears; Beth and Scott Tinsman of Twin State Technical Services; a young entrepreneur, Austin Blunk; and JA volunteer Andy McCray.
A Legacy of Leadership
James Sears became CEO of the family-owned business in 2001, after joining in 1990 and climbing through roles in sales, international management, and leadership of divisions in Europe and Asia.
Under his guidance, Sears Manufacturing—established in 1855—has thrived globally, producing seat and suspension systems across four continents and sustaining its legacy in Davenport.
Community & Mentorship Focus
Mr. Sears credits his early, hands-on start—cleaning bathrooms and working the assembly line—as foundational in understanding the value of every role. Beyond business, he’s deeply involved in the community, serving on advisory boards for universities, regional banks, environmental causes, mental health, and the Niabi Zoological Society.
He expressed heartfelt appreciation upon receiving the honor: “JA is a beacon of opportunity and empowerment for generations of young people. To be recognized among inspirational leaders of the past and present is a truly humbling experience.”
Why It Matters
